Back in Time

Back in Time

As a tourist, I enjoy going back to places I've been before.

Every time I go back I see everything different. This could be because I've changed a bit since I've first been to that place or I simply try to remain only with the positive experience out of a journey.

I recently took a trip was to Berlin.

First stop after a long long road: The Sixties Diner.

A stroll in Pleasure Garden (Lustgarten), almost at sunset, inspired me to take this photo of the Altes Museum (Old Museum):

And when the sunset came, I saw the magic light:

Leaving Lustgarten I encountered the tactile scale model of the Museum Island:

Taking the way round the Museumsinsel, at one point, I felt that I have to cross the street and touch this wall:

Then I looked in front of me and I saw this tram:

Thinking that the city looks a bit deserted on a Sunday evening, I looked up, at the sky:

Seeing contrails up in the sky always makes me smile.

Next day I've discovered this

tiny statue of a rat, but I can't remember exactly where I saw it, since I was in a hurry. I can only recall it was somewhere on a bridge really close to the city centre.

Last day in Berlin started exactly as the previous one: breakfast with cute tiny sparrows. But this time I managed to take some photos of them:

Tip: sparrows at Starbucks Sony Center (Potsdamer Platz) are friendlier than the ones at Potsdamer Platz 5.

Since a visit to the Jewish Museum was planned I didn't had enough time to stop on the way, so I took advantage of what the surroundings offered me:

The first thing I saw before visiting the museum, was the new deconstructivist-style building designed by Daniel Libeskind:

And I thought it will be an interesting experience, but it wasn't like that... it was heavy, painful, I was taken back in that time and when I saw The Voids, I understood what Daniel Libeskind meant with "that which can never be exhibited when it comes to Jewish Berlin history: Humanity reduced to ashes."

To end this entry in a positive way, for a night out, with live music, I recommend White Trash Fast Food.
